● HISTORY ●
(WARNING: this is extremely poorly written. it has a lot of details missing but eh. i don't really care right now, this is the basic idea of it.)
When Bearjaw was a kit, she had been born to a beautiful lone ex-clan she-cat by the name of Suntail. Suntail's clan had disbanded shortly before Bearjaw was born, unable to live in the conditions they had settled in. Suntail raised Bearjaw, at the time just named 'Bear', alongside her sister, Coyote (later named Coyotetail). Coyote was 6 moons older than Bearjaw, and was born from a different father. Boulderspots fathered Coyote, and Ratpelt fathered Bear. Bear was supposed to have been raised alongside a brother named Mole, but Mole died as a kitten due to unknown causes.
Suntail fell ill when Bearjaw was about 4 moons old. Coyote was tasked with bringing back food for Bearjaw and Suntail, though Suntail was growing weaker and weaker every day while Bearjaw noticed Coyote growing stronger. Suntail had been giving up her portions of food to Coyote, feeding her when Bear herself was borderline starving.
Tragedy struck one day, and the elaborate cave system Suntail, Bear, and Coyote had made their home began to collapse due to intense rainstorms loosening the rocks and mud. Suntail, too weak to escape as quickly as her daughters, became trapped under a crash of rocks and mud. From a ledge, Bear watched as Coyote made no visible attempt to save their mother. Coyote couldn't do anything, and Suntail told her to leave and head north.
Bear, however, did not forget what she had seen. She harbored secret hatred for her sister, feeling as though she had stolen food from their mother and Bear, and had let her die when she could have saved her.
The two grew up with a clan to the north, as their mother had instructed them to do. The clan took refuge in abandoned twoleg dens, and Coyotepaw and Bearkit grew into Coyotetail and Bearpaw. The two rarely spoke and when they did, Bearpaw was full of hostility and resentment for her sister. She even looked a bit like their mother, and it sickened Bearpaw.
Bearpaw resented Coyotetail in every way she could. She resented that she knew their mother longer, she resented the fact that Suntail clearly gave Coyotetail more attention, and she even got to know her father. Bearpaw's father had run off before she was even born, leaving Suntail to raise her children alone. Boulderspots had passed away due to a snake bite. Coyotetail had grown up guilt-free and had even taken on their mother's facial shape. Bearpaw couldn't stand it.
Disaster hit, and a freak lightning storm sent several of their clan's dens up in flames. Bearpaw, at 12 moons and on the verge of becoming a warrior, would not pass up this opportunity. Coyotetail became trapped within the burning warrior's den and Bearpaw confronted her, blaming her for their mother's death, and for her father leaving. Bearpaw blamed everything on Coyotetail, and claimed Starclan had sent these flames to purge the clans of her evil. Coyotetail, ironically, became trapped under blazing fallen debris, dying the slow and painful death their mother endured while Bearpaw watched on, her gaze cold like ice among the flames that burned her sister alive.
No one had ever suspected Bearpaw had committed the act, and everyone agreed that Coyotetail must have gotten trapped. Bearpaw stuck around only long enough to earn her warrior name, earned for her strong bite. Moons after her sister's death, the clan disbanded due to disease picking the warriors off and Bearjaw moved on to find a new place to call home. That's when she came across Gladeclan, and has lived among her clanmates guilt-free and unsuspected.
